		<title>Wrestling: Top-ranked Orting sends 17 wrestlers to Mat Classic</title>
		<description><![CDATA[<p>From staff writer Todd Milles:</p> <p>Different venue, same result as last weekend&#8217;s district meet &#8212; the Cardinals sent 13 to the finals at their Class 1A Region I tournament Saturday at Bellevue Christian. </p> <p>And the three-time defending state 1A champions crowned six champions &#8212; Fred Green (106 pounds), Austin Dodson (113), Drew Templeman (126), Shannon Maris (138), Mike Moniz (145) and Dalton Evanger (152) &#8212; and qualified 17 wrestlers for Mat Classic.</p> <p>&#8220;We got some young kids we are taking to state that we did not think would get there,&#8221; Orting coach Mike Sowards said.<br /> <span id="more-10704"></span><br /> <a href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/preps/2012/02/11/wrestling-top-ranked-orting-sends-17-wrestlers-to-mat-classic/" class="ellipsis">&#8230;</a></p>

		<title>Boys Basketball: Bellarmine Prep beats Olympia 68-51 in Narrows tiebreaker</title>
		<description><![CDATA[<a class="postimage" href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/preps/2012/02/10/boys-basketball-bellarmine-prep-beats-olympia-68-51-in-narrows-tiebreaker/"><img src="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/preps/files/2012/02/MeikleBlock-133x150.jpg" width="133" height="150" /></a><p>Dominick Francks shot and shot and shot and shot and shot and shot and shot.</p> <p>Bellarmine Prep&#8217;s boys basketball team had no answer for the Olympia High guard as they watched Francks rain down 3-pointers in the Narrows League 4A tiebreaker Friday at Foss High.</p> <p>Francks drilled seven first-half treys, including six in a row in a six-minute, second-quarter stretch that turned Bellarmine Prep&#8217;s eight-point lead into a six-point deficit.</p> <p>&#8220;What can you say?&#8221; Lions coach Bernie Salazar said. &#8220;Francks was tremendous.&#8221;</p> <p>Fortunately for the Lions, Francks hot hand cooled in the second half &#8211; thanks largely to a ratcheted-up <a href="http://blog.thenewstribune.com/preps/2012/02/10/boys-basketball-bellarmine-prep-beats-olympia-68-51-in-narrows-tiebreaker/" class="ellipsis">&#8230;</a></p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>Thre Narrows League boys basketball tiebreaker games have been scheduled for Friday night.</p> <p>In 4A, Bellarmine Prep and Olympia will play at 7p.m. at Foss High to determine the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds to the bi-district tournament. At the same site, South Kitsap will face Gig Harbor at 5 p.m. in a loser-out contest. The winner advances to the bi-district tourney.</p> <p>In 3A, Lincoln and Foss will square off at 7 p.m. at Mount Tahoma High to determine the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds to the bi-district tournament.</p>]]></description>

Because the current state tournament format has been used only once, here&#8217;s a brief primer.</p> <p>For instance, when I refer to the &#8220;regional round of the state tournament,&#8221; I mean the games that will be played on Feb. 24-25.
