Wright’s blast for Meadowdale stuns SPSL 3A champion Enumclaw in state fastpitch quarterfinals

LACEY – Rebecca Wright’s biggest fear was being the final out.

The Meadowdale sophomore catcher was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts before she stepped to the plate with two runners on, and two out in the bottom of the 10th inning, with her Mavericks trailing by one to Enumclaw in Friday’s Class 3A state quarterfinal fastpitch game.

Her confidence was shaken, but did her best to flush out her prior at-bats and focus on the scenario at stake.

“I wanted to get a base hit,” Wright said, “and keep (the rally) going.”

How about a walk-off three-run home run to win

Unbeaten coming in, Emerald Ridge goes two-and-out in 4A fastpitch tournament

SPOKANE – It wasn’t the kind of day Emerald Ridge High School expected to have at the state Class 4A fastpitch championships.

Coming into the tournament undefeated, the Jaguars had plans of challenging for a state title.

Instead, the team was sent packing early. Newport overcame a 6-1 deficit in the opening game to score a 10-9 victory.

In the consolation round, the team was one out away from a 2-1 victory only to see Tahoma’s Delany Nelson belt a three-run home run that turned into a 4-3 win for the Bears.

“We just didn’t execute the way we needed

Hayes’ big hit, base-running lifts Emerald Ridge to Class 4A West Central District fastpitch title

The Emerald Ridge High Jaguars had yet to be truly challenged this season.

But when they finally met up with a Camas High Papermakers team that matched them blow-for-blow in the West Central District Class 4A district title game on Monday night at Sprinker Recreation Fields, the Jaguars proved to be up to the task.

Emerald Ridge scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upend Camas, 2-1, and lock up the district title and the No. 1 seed to this weekend’s 4A state tournament in Spokane. Camas will go as the No. 2 seed.

Hendrix’s grand slam brings downpour, delays at 4A WCD fastpitch tournament

The Emerald Ridge High School Jaguars were just six outs away from the promised land of Spokane.

It is the postsason, and for Wilson it is title hunting – this time another Narrows 3A fastpitch crown

The Wilson Rams finished third in the 3A Narrows League regular-season fastpitch standings behind champion North Thurston and Timberline.

For Wilson, though, the postseason means a new season.

That approach worked as Wilson upended North Thurston, 9-2, for the 3A Narrows League tournament championship Friday at Tacoma’s South End Recreation Area.
With the win, Wilson earned the league’s No. 1 seed for the West Central/Southwest bidistrict tournament.

A day after topping Timberline, 3-1, in the tournament semifinals, late-surging Wilson (14-7) won for the fifth consecutive time, getting contributions up and down its lineup. Senior Kaysha Fox said that hasn’t
