Regular-season champion Enumclaw’s early scoring was decisive in its 6-3 fastpitch victory over Bonney Lake in the South Puget Sound League 3A tournament championship game at Boise Creek Park in Enumclaw.
The Hornets’ Sarah Morrow laced a double to left-center in the first inning, and Chloe Young drove her in with an RBI triple to give Enumclaw a 1-0 lead.
Morrow later added a two-run double to right field an inning later to give the Hornets a 4-0 advantage.
The Panthers cut it to 4-2 on Bailey Aherns two-run double in the fourth inning. Other than that, Enumclaw starting pitcher Quinn Braidenbach (seven innings, eight strikeouts) gave up very little.
Enumclaw earns the No. 1 seed to next week’s West Central District tournament. Bonney Lake is the No. 2 seed, followed by Peninsula and Seamount League winner Kennedy Catholic.
