Auburn Mountainview has decided to keep its girls’ basketball job in-house, promoting Dustin Depiano from Lions’ assistant to coach, replacing Chris Carr.

Carr, also the school’s athletic director, released this statement:

“I am glad to announce the promotion of Dustin Depiano to head coach. The familiarity he has of this program will make a smooth transition as we work to continually build on the foundation that has been established here. Dustin has already announced the hiring of Tim Nelson, former Auburn Riverside head coach, as a varsity assistant for this upcoming season. We are excited to get two top notch individuals to coach for the 2013-14 season.”

Carr stepped down after 19 seasons of coaching, including taking the Auburn Mountainview job when the school opened in 2005.
