Brittany McPhee scored 28 points and added 14 rebounds as the Mount Rainier High girls’ basketball team rallied from a five-point fourth-quarter deficit to survive Inglemoor, 61-56, in the quarterfinals of the 4A state tournament Thursday night.

Trailing 56-51, Mount Rainier’s Jordan McPhee, twin sister of Brittany McPhee, grabbed an offensive rebound to cut the lead to three with 2 1/2 minutes left.

Her sister took over from there. Brittany scored six straight points to give the Rams their first lead of the fourth quarter. Her fallaway jumper in the middle of the key put No. 2 Mount Rainier ahead 57-56 with 1:04 to go.

“I was really frustrated because their zone was working so well,” Brittany said. “I just knew I had to be strong and take whatever shot came because we needed buckets.”

The Rams held Inglemoor scoreless the final 2:44 of the game. They led by 10 points at halftime, but were outscored 22-12 in the third quarter.

Julia Haining led Inglemoor with 19 points and nine rebounds.
