Six seconds is a lifetime.

Especially when it results in a game winning 3-pointer that sends our team off to the Class 4A West Central District boys’ basketball title game.

From utter dismay to complete jubilation, Isaiah Flynn’s last-gasp 3-pointer sent Bellarmine Prep to a 59-58 victory over Todd Beamer as the Lions faithful stormed the Auburn High School court.

Bellarmine Prep, which was down 56-58 with 6 seconds to go and Beamer’s Forest Grant at the free-throw line shooting two after a Flynn turnover and foul, the game appeared very bleak for the Lions.

However, Grant was unsuccessful with both shots and Prep center Lucas Meikle, who led all scorers with 22 points, picked up the rebound and out letting it to his senior point guard, who drove up the court before hitting a nothing but net, side-jumping, contested NBA 3-pointer in front of his own bench to win the game with no time left.

“I can’t explain it,” said Flynn, who finished with 14 points. “I saw the shot go through and it was just celebrating. I wanted to celebrate with my teammates, I saw my dad and family and wanted to just celebrate with them. It was a good win. We definitely made some mistakes defensively, but we pulled it out.”
