Big news broke Wednesday during national letter of intent day – the Kent-Meridian boys were forced to forfeit SPSL North basketball games because of an eligibility violation.

After losing in a divisional tiebreaker Tuesday, the Royals were expected to play Emerald Ridge in a winner-to-districts, loser-out game Saturday at Puyallup High School. Instead that spot will now go to Kentwood.

SPSL girls (3, 4): Puyallup (18-2) versus Auburn Riverside (15-5), 5 p.m.
SPSL girls (1, 2): Beamer (17-3) versus Mount Rainier (19-1), 6:30 p.m.
SPSL boys (1, 2): Curtis (18-2) versus Tahoma (15-5), 8 p.m.

SATURDAY at Puyallup High School
SPSL girls (9th seed, loser out): Bethel (9-11) versus Tahoma (11-9), 11 a.m.
SPSL boys (9, lo): Emerald Ridge (12-8) versus Kentwood (13-7), 12:30 p.m.
SPSL boys (7, 8): Bethel (14-7) versus Jefferson (12-8), 2 p.m.
