Victor Gamboa, the South Puget Sound League 2A’s two-time football player of the year, and member of The News Tribune’s 2012 All-Area team, gave an oral commitment Wednesday night to play at Eastern Washington University.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder caught 44 passes for 719 yards and eight touchdowns. He is also regarded as an outstanding downfield blocker.

The Eagles have mined receivers from the SPSL 2A in the past, signing Steilacoom receiver Greg Ford (who left and went to Pacific Lutheran) and Greg Herd.
