Mark Stewart, the football coach at Meadowdale High School since 2000, resigned after 13 seasons Monday to take a position at Garfield High School.

Stewart compiled an 87-49 record, and led the Mavericks to the postseason in nine seasons – including seven state playoff trips.

“It is with mixed feelings that I make this decision. For the past 13 years, the support that I have received from the Meadowdale community has been very meaningful to me,” Stewart said in a released statement. “The positive relationships and friendships I have had with my players, staff, administration and community will always be with me and will be remembered as a significant time in my life.”

Meadowdale will be taking applications for the position starting Wednesday. For more information, click here.
