Due to a scheduling conflict, officials at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association have moved the state cheerleading championships and dance/drill team qualifying from Everett to Seattle.

The events, scheduled for Jan. 26, will be held at Alaska Airlines at Hec Edmindson Pavilion on the campus of the University of Washington.

“This is very exciting for the student-athletes that will be participating …” WIAA executive director Mike Colbrese said. “The (WIAA) is committed to providing a first-class experience for the student-athletes, fans and coaches for these events and by moving to Alaska Airlines Arena, I believe we have executed this commitment.”

This will be the eighth year for “Salute to Spirit,” which is the qualifying event for state dance and drill. The state cheerleading championships follow that qualifying.

All performances will be broadcasted live on the WIAA Network. Tickets will also be available.
