No. 2 Neah Bay (12-0) vs. No. 1 Liberty Christian (13-0)
4 p.m. Saturday, Tacoma Dome

Coaches: Tony McCaulley is in his fifth season at Neah Bay (50-10 record). Mike Olson is in his sixth season at Liberty Christian (38-23 record).

Road to Gridiron Classic: Neah Bay defeated Mary M. Knight in the quarterfinals (50-0), and Lummi in the semifinals (40-30). Liberty Christian defeated LaCrosse-Washtucna-Kahlotus in the quarterfinals (70-8), and Cusick in the semifinals (34-32).

About the Red Devils: Neah Bay is trying to become the first repeat 1B champions since Lacrosse-Washtucna (2002-05). And the 1B Northwest winner will need another big effort from QB Josiah Greene (85-139, 1,756 yards, 26 TDs, four INT; 1,086 rushing yards, 19 TDs), the classification’s reigning player of the year. Greene rushed for 305 yards and three touchdowns, and added another score in last week’s win over Lummi.

About the Patriots: What a journey for this group of seniors. Since being reclassified to 1B in 2010, the school was not eligible for the postseason the past two seasons. Now, Liberty Christian is – and has reached the finals for the first time. If the team needs a score, it usually relies on QB Mike Olson (92-128, 2,053 yards 39 TDs), who usually finds WR Tyler Morris (38 catches, 1,072 yards, 18 TDs). Defense is big and physical.

TNT pick: Liberty Christian, 50-35.

“Score Czar/Computer pick: Liberty Christian, 41-21.

There will be too much Red and Black and Greene for Liberty Christian, Neah Bay will repeat, 38-30!
