Lynden receiver Zach Vis, 11, has given the Lions a midseason lift after his return from a collarbone injury.

Greetings on the first post-Thanksgiving FOOTBALL day, which around here always signals the start of semifinal round at the Tacoma Dome.

First, a reminder – Live Chat from the Dome starting at noon today. The Olympian’s Meg Wochnick will host for the first couple hours, and I will join her mid-afternoon and take it the distance from there.

Also of note, all the semifinal games will be available on broadcast. Here is the schedule:

Today’s semifinals:
1 p.m.: Capital vs. Lynden, ROOT Sports
4 p.m.: La Conner vs. MWP, WIAA Network
7 p.m.: Mount Si. vs. Bellevue, ROOT Sports

Saturday’s semifinals:
10 a.m.: Mount Baker vs. Montesano, WIAA Network
11 a.m.: Royal vs. River View, WIAA Network
1 p.m.: Camas vs. Skyline, ROOT Sports (note, tape-delayed start at 4 p.m.)
1 p.m.: Liberty Christian vs. Cusick, WIAA Network
2 p.m.: Waitsburg-Prescott vs. L-R-S, WIAA Network
4 p.m.: Lummi vs. Neah Bay, WIAA Network
4 p.m.: Eastside Catholic vs. University, WIAA Network
5 p.m.: Tumwater vs. Prosser, WIAA Network
7 p.m.: Auburn vs. Bellarmine Prep, ROOT Sports

Secondly, wanted to go around the state to touch on a few of the preview stories on teams headed here this weekend:

* If you’ve never seen Bellevue High’s Myles Jack, you are missing out. Is as dominant a defensive player as I’ve seen in my 18 years covering high school sports. A very interesting (and amusing) story behind his new number, told by the TNT’s T.J. Cotterill.

* Wochnick details the run to rushing glory by Capital High’s Kai Van Sickle.

* In our usual fashion, our All-Area football team came out on Turkey Day. Our deserving player of the year is Bellarmine Prep’s Sefo Liufau.

* The Seattle Times’ Jayson Jenks takes a look at HOW GOOD Bellevue’s defense has been in 2012. Very good. Historic, in fact.

* Kind of amazing the year Mount Si’s Trent Riley has had, considering just months ago, he had a knee injury that threatened his career, Jenks writes.

* Harold Lee’s bright-colored shoes for Auburn tells you all you need to know about the Trojans’ speedster, writes Sandy Ringer, of the Seattle Times.

* Always nice getting a key weapon back late in the season, and that has happened at Lynden with receiver Zach Vis (collarbone).

* Something on La Conner’s road in 2012. It has been a while since the 2B school has been in the semifinals.
