No. 5 La Conner (11-1) vs. No. 1 Morton-White Pass (11-0)
4 p.m. Friday, Tacoma Dome

Coaches: Johnny Lee is in his third season at La Conner (21-12 record). Aaron Poquette is in his second season at Morton-White Pass (21-2).

Road to the semifinals: La Conner defeated Wahkiakum in the first round (41-20), and Raymond in the quarterfinals (21-7). Morton-White Pass defeated Adna in the first round (42-0), and Mossyrock in the quarterfinals (35-6).

About the Braves: Dual-threat QB Sean Hulbert (78-142, 1297 yards, 23 TDs; 801 rushing yards and 11 TDs) leads the highest-scoring offense in 2B. The junior returned to that position after spending one season at tailback in 2011. And to make Hulbert more effective, a boost could come from RB Dahlton Zavala (129 carries, 1118 yards, 15 TDs) in the run game.

About the Timberwolves: They are big, physical and experienced on defense, and lead the state in scoring defense (4.2 points given up per game). DT Ben Powell (86 tackles, 71/2 sacks, four fumble recoveries) gets it going up front in their split 4-4 defense, which really keeps opposing offenses on their heels. This is a rematch of a first-round game last season, won by Morton-White Pass (34-13).

TNT pick: Morton-White Pass, 37-21.

“Score Czar”/Computer pick: Morton-White Pass, 28-8
