Defending Class 4A girls’ soccer champion Skyline kept knocking on the door, and finally broke through in the 74th minute when forward Amanda Johnston’s cross went past a pack of players in the Puyallup penalty box, and right to forward Anna Deweirdt.

All Deweirdt did was stop the rolling ball and fire a shot that went into the upper left portion of the net for the game-winner in the Spartans’ 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Puyallup at Sparks Stadium.

Puyallup (15-3), the SPSL South champion, never got anything going – getting one shot off the entire match. It was by Justine Ibarra in the first half. The Spartans (15-1) outshot the Vikings, 12-1.

Skyline reaches the 4A semifinals for the fifth consecutive season.
