Key fourth down conversion leads Lind-Ritzville/Sprague to 2B crown, 21-19

With less than six minutes remaining, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague felt the pressure.

And the Broncos did not back down.

Converting a key fourth down, the underdogs converted the game-winning touchdown on Connor O’Neill’s 4-yard run with just over two minutes to go, and No. 2 Lind-Ritzville/Sprague upended top-ranked Morton-White Pass, 21-19, for the Class 2B championship in the Tacoma Dome on Friday night.

The Broncos converted a fourth-and-18 when quarterback Dylan Hartz connected with O’Neill on a 24-yard pass – down to the Timberwolves’ 5.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague coach Greg Whitmore said he knew his team would deliver.

After the whistle: Gridiron Classic preview links and LIVE CHAT reminder

Greetings. Gridiron Classic weekend is here. And before I head off and help TNT colleague Ryan Divish move from the worst part of Tacoma – to a much better one – wanted to get to a few reminders and links statewide:

* If you can’t make it to the Tacoma Dome for any of the action, the WIAA has you set up for game broadcats. The 4A (Saturday at 7:30 p.m.) and 3A championships (today at 7:30 p.m.) will be televised live on ROOT Sports. And the rest of the action will be webcast live on the WIAA Network.
