It has been 20 years since North Thurston last started a football season 5-0.

Head coach Rocky Patchin was in his first season with the Rams, guiding a team that featured Mike Sellers to a league title.

There may not be any future NFL All-Pro players on this year’s roster, but that hasn’t stopped North Thurston from getting off to as hot a start as the 1992 squad.

Mo Manning rushed for three touchdowns, Ryan Mets threw for another score and North Thurston remained undefeated with a 34-0 drubbing of visiting Wilson in Narrows League 3A play Saturday at South Sound Stadium.

“This was a solid win,” Patchin said. “I thought we played very well in all aspects of the game tonight. That’s a very athletic Wilson team we faced tonight.”

North Thurston notched its second shutout this season and rushed for 230 yards.
