State game of the week: Sellout expected for Skyview-Camas

No. 4 Skyview (3-1) at No. 6 Camas (4-0)
7 p.m. Friday, Harris Stadium, Camas

Skinny: You know when the fire marshal contacts school officials about stadium capacity for this 4A Greater St. Helens League showdown a week in advance – this is a big one. The Storm have won the past four league titles, and pummeled Camas with a second-half rushing attack that netted a 31-10 win last season in Vancouver. The game Friday is played in Camas, and more than 5,000 spectators are expected to attend (additional bleachers are being brought in). How even are these teams? Papermakers coach Jon Eagle said he and his staff broke down both teams position-by-position – and agreed it was pretty much a stalemate across the board. Skyview will let quarterback Jordan Berni (63-of-101, 850 yards, six TDs) air it out, and he can also run – as can tailback Jabari Marshall (53 carries, 316 yards, 11 TDs). The Papermakers arguably have more weapons spread across the field for quarterback Reilly Hennessey (51-of-79, 872 yards, seven TDs), who has been flawless in play-action stuff. Receiver Zach Eagle (23 catches, 368 yards, three TDs), the coach’s son, is a dynamic playmaker. And they have a noticeable edge in the kicking game, too. The game will also be broadcast on the WIAA Network.

TNT pick: Camas, 28-20.

I’m disappointed with the TNT. They traveled down I-5 to Vancouver to cover a Skyview vs Camas, but can’t travel down I-5 to Vancouver to cover Lakes vs Skyview.

  2. Todd Milles says:

No TNT reporter covered the Skyview-Camas game. We did write a preview capsule on these schools as our state game of the week (like we do every week).
