The good news – Lincoln High ninth grader Jordan Kitna, the projected starting quarterback, has an appeals hearing with the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association on his suspended varsity eligibility with the Abes.

The bad news is that is won’t happen until next week.

Ten days after Kitna – the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, who is in his first season as the Abes’ football coach – lost his eligibility hearing at the West Central District level in Fife, he will now go to the WIAA on Sept. 6.

That means the Abes will have to make other arrangements at quarterback for their season-opening game Saturday at Bonney Lake High School.

Jon Kitna declined to reveal who the new starter will be.

So are all kids who are going through WIAA appeals going to have newspaper articles written on them also or is this a special occasion?
