I’m a little old school – I don’t have the quickest reaction time to interactive media. But the way of the world dictates a different era in media coverage is fully underway.

A couple of things:

1, Scheduling a LIVE CHAT for Friday at 11 a.m. Myself, Olympian sportswriter Meg Wochnick and hopefully a guest coach will be available to take on questions heading into the opening week of high school football.

More information will come out in the next few days, and we will also tease the live chat in the newspaper.

2, Love this upcoming weekend. First rotation of the schedule when everybody is 0-0.

So I am asking you, the readers – As a coach, former player and/or fan of high school football – what is your favorite opening-week moment? Maybe of few of your memories can help ease some of the anxiety I am sure a few of the newcomers to the sport might have Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The News Tribune will be covering games all three days – starting with the Gig Harbor-O’Dea showdown Thursday night in Purdy. And, of course, we will keep you updated all season with Friday night in-game scores as we can find them – or get them reported.

Usually, I get Lakes football highlights, updates and scores from several fans. Where can I send the information?

  2. DrugsDelaney says:

My favorite memory is when Sam Baurichter dropped acid and lit up Tahoma. Man that guy could throw a football over them mountains.

  3. mommabear1984 says:

With the warm weather of early September, I love being able to watch the game in shirt sleeves and sunglasses and seeing the sun set over the painted field of green.

  4. ConcernedCoach says:

Always that first bus ride to the stadium. Did we prepare right, are the kids ready whats the crowd gonna be like did we do enough in the off season have I watched enough film. Nervous unknowns that those in the stands will never understand and most likely never experience

  5. Thanks for the insite Coach, as a one time player I too remember that first bus ride of the season. Pulling up to the opposing school amidst their fans was always a rush.
