Football: Way too early Class 2A preseason state rankings

Here’s the third installment of our pre-preseason rankings. Click here to view the Class 4A rankings and here to see the Class 3A rankings. Class 1A rankings will appear Friday.

One thing to keep in mind about the rankings is the some schools have been reclassified. Click here for the 2012-14 enrollment cycle numbers.

That said, here is the way too early Class 2A top five.

1. Lynden (14-0 in 2011)

All-Northwest Conference MVP Josh Kraght returns as Lions go for a fourth state title in five seasons

2. Capital (8-4)

A year removed from reaching 3A semifinals, Cougars are loaded with returning starters, including RB Kai Van Sickle

3. Archbishop Murphy (12-2)
Bill Marsh takes over as head coach of team that has reached state finals in past two seasons, but is still searching for first 2A crown

4. Prosser (11-2)
All-league QB Ryan Fassler and WR Danny Raap return for powerful Mustangs

5. Tumwater (7-2)
Mammoth lineman Jaimie Bryant, a Washington commit, will lead the always-tough Thunderbirds
