The Bears’ withstood Jordan Chatman’s 29 points and miraculous full-court 3-pointer and escaped with the semifinal victory.
Central Valley (22-3) will play for the state finals for the first time since its lost the 4A title game to Franklin in 2006.
“This was the goal from the beginning,” said guard Gaven Deyarmin, who led the Bears with 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds. “Get to the finals”
Central Valley’s win was overshadowed by Chatman’s one-in-a-million shot at the end of the game.
After Deyarmin missed a free throw with a half second left the ball dropped into Chatman’s hands and he hurled it the length of the court, swishing it perfectly.
