Seattle Prep weathered some rough shooting, and then held off a late rally to defeat Lakeside 39-32 on Friday in consolation round of the 3A state girls’ basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome. The Panthers advance to the fourth place game on Saturday where they will meet No. 8 Shorecrest.
Seattle Prep held a 16-4 lead at halftime and pushed that edge to 26-10 by the start of the fourth quarter before the Lions started to rally. Lakeside’s Kaylee Best made a 3-pointer with a minute to play to cut the score to 32-30, but the Lions couldn’t complete the comeback bid. Seattle Prep converted just enough free throws to hold on.
The Panthers’ Purshall Artison scored 15 points to lead all scorers. MaryAnn Santucci added 10. Best had 12 to lead Lakeside. She was the only Panther player to finish in double figures.
