Clover Park rebounded from Thursday’s state quarterfinal loss in a big way, jumping out to a quick 15-point first-quarter lead on its way to a 79-49 Class 2A boys basketball consolation win over Ellensburg Friday afternoon at the SunDome.
Sophomore guard Ahmaad Rorie recorded a tournament-high 46 points in the win. He was 15 of 25 from the floor and 14 of 15 from the free-throw line. Rorie was two points off the tournament record, which is 48 points set by Ephrata’s Patrick Simon in 2010.
The Warriors (22-6) will face Pullman at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the fourth/sixth-place game. The defending state champions will have earned back-to-back state trophies for the first time in school history.
