The No. 7 Titans made a late push in the fourth quarter to move on to the semifinals where they will face Rainier Beach.
Lake Washington 6-11 big man Darien Nelson-Henry went down with a right ankle sprain early in the fourth quarter with the No. 10 Kangaroos (20-7) leading 46-41, and the Titans took advantage by pounding the ball inside.
Nelson-Henry had his ankle re-taped and returned with 3:32 left and his team up 52-51.
But Senior guard Jared Miller connected on back-to-back drives late in the game to put the Titans (20-4) up for good, 55-52 with just over two minutes left.
“Yeah, I think it was good to have him on the bench,” University head coach Garrick Phillips said. “But I didn’t mind playing with him out there either because he had to guard somebody on our team. And he didn’t want it to be one of our guys who could shoot.”
Junior Brett Bailey, an oral commit to the University of San Diego, led the Titans with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Matt Staudacher led Lake Washington with a game-high 30 points. Nelson-Henry finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
