Lincoln High is getting new weight-room equipment, thanks to Jon and Jennifer Kitna.
The equipment is valued at $150,000.
Jon Kitna, if you’ve been living under a rock, was named Lincoln’s football coach in January.
Because the gift exceeds a certain dollar amount — I admit, I don’t know the threshold — it must be approved by the School Board. Not surprisingly, Tacoma’s assistant superintendent recommends that the Board of Directors accept the gift. The next meeting is Feb. 23.
Lincoln’s current weight room equipment will be distributed among the other four Tacoma high schools — Foss, Stadium, Wilson and Mount Tahoma.
