According to Lakes High football coach Dave Miller, receiver Cedric Dozier did not take an official visit to Washington this weekend.

“Felt it wasn’t the right place for him,” Miller said Saturday evening.

Dozier orally committed to Cal in the fall, but was shaken when receivers coach Eric Kiesau left the Bears program for UW. Dozier took an official visit to Washington State last weekend.

New WSU coach Mike Leach was at Lakes this week and compared Dozier, who would be a slot receiver, to another slot receiver who played for him at Texas Tech — NFL All-Pro Wes Welker, Miller said.

The News Tribune is publishing the 25th Annual Western 100, a look at the top football recruits in the West, in Sunday’s paper.

Here’s a link to the 100 recruits, with position-by-position recaps.

Here’s a link to my story on verbal offers and oral commitments being mostly worthless.
