TACOMA BAPTIST CRUSADERS
Coach: Mark Smith, 21st season
Top players: OL/DL Walker Williams, sr., 6-7, 320; OL/LB Andrew Talen, jr., 5-11, 185; OL/DL Caleb Wolf, jr., 5-10, 175; QB/LB Taylor Martindale, jr., 6-2, 200; RB/LB Brandon Hughey, jr., 5-9., 180; WR/DB Kyle Delegard, sr., 5-10, 170; WR/DB Kody Lyons, sr., 5-10, 165; TE/DB Drew Jordan, jr., 6-0, 185; OL/DL Josh Hammes, sr., 5-9, 185; RB/LB Zach Finley, sr., 5-9, 190; QB/DB Scott Peterson, sr., 6-2, 170; OL/DL Aaron Porter, jr., 6-0, 330.
Outlook: With eight starters on offense and seven on defense returning, the Crusaders are in position to build upon their Class 2B state quarterfinals appearance and league championship. Tacoma Baptist will miss all-state linebacker Sam Spiro, who graduated, but has one of the top players in the state in the trenches. Williams recently gave an oral commitment to play at the University of Wisconsin. Smith says experience, speed and size are among the team’s strengths, while it must work to create depth at key positions.
