Football: Catching up with UW recruits Korey Durkee, Michael Rector

I was visiting family on the East Coast when Bellarmine Prep receiver Michael Rector and Gig Harbor kicker/punter Korey Durkee gave oral commitments to play football at the University of Washington. Click here to read the story.

There are a few things that didn’t make it into the story that I wanted to mention:

Rector told me he won’t attend anymore camps this summer. He’ll train with his high school teammates, particularly quarterback Sefo Liufau. Rector said the two “get together a lot during summer” to improve their passing-and-catching relationship.

Central Washington University’s Stan Langlow, a 2009 Curtis High School graduate, was named to the Sporting News’ preseason Division II All-American team as a defensive back.

Langlow started nine games as a redshirt freshman in the 2010 season, leading the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with seven interceptions. According to a CWU release, Langlow is the only GNAC player on the list and one of five sophomores among the 27 players honored.
