According to Athletic.net, seven of the eight fastest times in the 100 and nine of 10 fastest times in the 200 have been run by girls at the 4A bi-district meet. That makes for some loaded prelims.
I spoke with sprinters Sarah Hartwell of Bellarmine Prep and Federal Way’s Marjerae Gates and both said they viewed the bi-district meet for what it is, a state-qualifying meet. Sure, they’re racing to win, but they know all they need to do to advance to state is to place among the top eight to here.
The finals in the 4A girls 100 and 200 should be just as competitive, maybe more, than what we’ll see next week.
