Heavy rains forced the postponement of two baseball championship games on Saturday.
Eighth-ranked Puyallup will meet Kentwood at 7 p.m. Monday at Kent Memorial Park in the finals of the Class 4A West Central/Southwest bi-district tournament. The 3A bi-district title game, pitting top-ranked Camas and No. 4 Enumclaw, will be played at 5 p.m. Monday at Auburn Mountainview.
All four teams have already qualified for their respective state tournaments.
The 3A tournament has one other game remaining. Peninsula will play Mountain View at 5 p.m. today at Heidelberg Park.
Earlier in the day, Puyallup beat Olympia 3-0 in the semifinals. Senior Ryan Schmitten threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out five. The Vikings scored two runs in the third inning on a two-run single by James Harris. Puyallup added another run in the seventh.
Kentwood (17-6) advanced after beating South Kitsap 5-0. Senior Kyle Doyle earned the win for the defending Class 4A state champions.
Olympia edged the Wolves 3-1 in the third-/fourth-place game.
Enumclaw ended Timberline’s 17-game winning streak in the 3A semifinals, beating the Blazers 8-1. Timberline bounced back in the third-/fourth-place game, toppling Auburn Mountainview 11-5.
“We wanted to make sure to start a new streak,” Timberline coach Derek Weldon said. “It was good to come back and get that win right there, to feel better about ourselves.”
Camas advanced to the finals by beating Auburn Mountainview 12-0 in five innings.
