Chief Sealth boys 68, Foss 46

The Seahawks (20-8) came in wearing their “Sealth to State” T-shirts during warmups, and are now one game away from reaching the Tacoma Dome after eliminating the Falcons (15-10) in a loser-out game at Auburn High School.

A 7-0 run in 33 seconds turned a competitive affair into a double-digit lead for the high-flying Seahawks, and senior D’Nique Harris-Welch was right in the middle of it.

Harris-Welch scored five of those points – the last being a putback that gave Chief Sealth a 31-18 lead with 3:15 remaining in the first half.

“The Metro League is very good. Chief Sealth

CLASS 3A BOYS BASKETBALL
Regional Round of the State Tournament

REGION 1 at Marysville-Pilchuck HS
Friday

Game 1: Hazen (20-6) vs. Mountlake Terrace (13-11), 5:45 p.m. (loser out)

Lowdown: Glacier Peak lost 6-foot-11 center Payton Pervier, who set the 3A state tournament record for blocked shots last season, when he quit the team in early February. Since then, the Grizzlies have won all three games it has played, including the Northwest District championship. … Seattle Prep forward Mitch Brewe, a 6-foot-8 junior, is one of the best players in the tournament. He’s averaging 22.8 points per game.
