The high school basketball season begins this week. Some leagues will get straight to business, playing league games, while other teams will have a few non-league games scheduled.

The Les Schwab Tipoff Classic will be played this week — Thursday and Saturday — at Kentwood. Here’s the schedule:

We’ll be providing live updates from the Tumwater vs. Spokane East Valley and Bellarmine Prep vs. Ferris football semifinal games Monday at the Tacoma Dome.

The Bellarmine-Ferris game is NOT on radio.

Lowdown: Too much snow on the turf and no way to remove it forced this game to be played today in Tacoma, instead of Saturday in Spokane. The postponed game doesn’t provide a huge boost to either team – Bellarmine Prep spent two days in a bus, crisscrossing the state – but Ferris might even have a slight edge because the Saxons played on the Tacoma Dome’s slick surface and cavernous atmosphere last season and the Lions have no experience playing in the venue. UPDATE: The Colfax vs. Waitsburg-Prescott semifinal has been postponed because of “dangerous road conditions.” The game will now be played at 5 p.m. Monday at WSU.
