Prep Football: Curtis ties SPSL single-season scoring record

Curtis ended the regular season with a 70-24 win over playoff-bound Beamer on Thursday night. By scoring 70 points, the Vikings tied the SPSL’s record for points scored in a season with 416. Auburn set the original mark last year.

Some other postseason-related loose ends were tied up on Thursday, too:

Kentridge and Auburn Riverside both lost, which means Kentridge will play at the winner of tonight’s Gig Harbor-Bellarmine Prep contest and Auburn Riverside will take on Graham-Kapowsin at Art Crate Field in a pig-tail game on Tuesday. Read more »

The three winners will advance to the Tri-District tournament, scheduled for Nov. 5, where they will play winner-to-state games.

3A No. 6 Lakes (4-0 league, 7-1 overall) vs. Bonney Lake (4-0, 7-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Sunset Chev Stadium
Lowdown:
The upstart Panthers will try to slay traditional power Lakes when the two meet with the SPSL 3A title and a home playoff game on the line. Bonney Lake has the league’s top-rated offense (427.8 yards per game) and defense (215.9). QB Chris Brown (129-of-196 for 2,091 yards, 26 TDs) and WR Austin Marshall (61 catches for 1,111 yards, 18 TDs) are have record-setting seasons, but RB Tyler Babukas is quietly having a spectacular season.
