After eight weeks of football, the postseason picture has become very clear. Here’s where we stand, heading into Week 9.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Two of the league’s three 3A teams – Ferndale, Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley – will qualify for the postseason. The No. 1 seed will host the Narrows League’s No. 3 seed in a Week 10 state play-in game. The No. 2 seed will play a pig-tail game against the fourth seed from WesCo.

The top seed will go to the winner of this week’s Ferndale-Mount Vernon game. The loser will get the second seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Three teams will automatically qualify for the Week 10 state play-in round. The fourth team will play a pig-tail game against the Northwest Conference’s second seed on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Glacier Peak has clinched the No. 1 seed. After that, it’s a mess. Shorecrest has completed its league schedule and with a 4-3 record. Everett and Meadowdale are each at 4-2, while Mountlake Terrace and Oak Harbor are both 3-3. A five-way tie for second is not far-fetched.

What appears to be most probably is that Meadowdale takes the second seed and Everett, Mountlake Terrace and Shorecrest are in a three-way tie for third. Against each other, the three teams have a 1-1 record. A mini-playoff seems possible.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Metro is divided into two divisions – Mountain and Sound – and the top three teams from each will meet in league crossover playoffs this week. The division champions will play for the first and second seeds to the Week 10 state play-in round. The second-place teams play each other and so do the third-place teams.

Here are the matchups:
Game 1: O’Dea vs. Franklin (first and second seeds)

Game 2: Seattle Prep vs. Rainier Beach (third and fourth seeds)

Game 3: Bainbridge vs. Nathan Hale (fifth and sixth seeds)

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Bellevue, Juanita, Liberty and Mount Si have locked up the four playoff berths. And if Bellevue beats Liberty this week, that’s exactly the order the teams will be seeded.

If Liberty and Juanita win this week, the Patriots, Rebels and Bellevue would be in a three-way tie for first. No matter what happens, Mount Si is the fourth seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Kennedy has clinched the No. 2 seed and Hazen is the second seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: The league title and top seed is on the line when Lakes travels to Bonney Lake this week. The loser will get the second seed. The winner of Peninsula-Enumclaw this week is the third seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Capital clinched the No. 1 seed and Timberline is the second seed. Wilson and Lincoln are tied for third, but the Rams own the head-to-head tiebreaker. This week, Wilson plays Yelm and Lincoln plays Capital.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: Camas has secured the top seed. Mountain View, Kelso and Columbia River are alive for the final two berths.

If Mountain View beats Columbia River, MV will be the second seed and Kelso the third seed. If CR beats MV and Kelso loses – Kelso is playing Camas – CR will be the second seed and MV the third seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: The league champion will host the league’s fourth-place team in Week 10 in a winner-to-state contest. The CBBN’s second-place team will host the Greater Spokane League’s No. 2 seed and the CBBN’s third-place team will play at the GSL’s top seed.

Kamiakin and Eastmont sit atop the standings tied and will meet this week. The winner will be the first seed and loser the second seed. Kennewick is the third seed and Southridge is the fourth seed.

Postseason berths:
Lowdown: The top seed will host the third-place team from the CBBN 3A and the No. 2 team will play at the CBBN’s second-place team in Week 10.

Mount Spokane is the No. 1 seed and University is the second seed.

Winners of odd numbered games will advance to play at winners of even-numbered games in first round of state playoffs. For instance, if Bonney Lake wins Game 1, it could play at Lakes, possible winner of Game 2, in the first round of the state playoffs.
