1. Slinger settling in
Bonney Lake quarterback Chris Brown has settled nicely into his starting role. The sophomore has completed 65 percent of his pass attempts, throwing for 1,521 yards and 16 touchdowns. Receiver Austin Marshall is his favorite target, hauling in 49 catches for 759 yards and 13 touchdowns.

2. Holy Patriots, Batman!
Since opening the season with three straight losses, Washington has risen from the depths of the SPSL 2A and reeled off three consecutive victories. Under the leadership of second-year coach Mike Von Rueden, the Patriots, who last won back-to-back games in 2007, are in the thick of the SPSL 2A playoff chase.

3. SPSL favorite coming soon
A frontrunner will emerge in the SPSL 3A tonight when Enumclaw hosts sixth-ranked Lakes at Orting High School. The Hornets and Lancers, along with Bonney Lake, are tied for first place in the league standings and will play each other over the next three weeks. Enumclaw will visit the Panthers next week.

4. No rest for T-birds
After playing, and winning, three straight games against undefeated Evergreen Conference opponents, third-ranked Tumwater caught a tiny break tonight. The Thunderbirds will face a team with one loss, River Ridge, in a league contest.

5. Royal pain in SPSL North
Kent-Meridian quarterback David Jones has shredded defenses to the tune of 1,028 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns so far this season. The Royals are in the thick of the SPSL North playoff chase, but face a difficult three-game stretch that begins tonight against fifth-ranked Kentwood.
