Emerald Ridge football team appears in SI

Readers of Sports Illustrated should be familiar with the magazine’s “Go Figure” feature. In this week’s edition, the Emerald Ridge football team was singled out.

Here’s the copy:

5: Co-head varsity football coaches employed by Emerald Ridge (Wash.) High.

19: Consecutive losses by the Emerald Ridge Jaguars, before they won last Friday.

Now, there’s not a lot of context there. Most of us in the South Sound know that the five co-head coaches took over this season, so only five losses are on their shoulders. And I suspect if Emerald Ridge had one head coach there’s almost no chance they get mentioned in Sports Illustrated for ending a 19-game winning streak. But good for the Jags. Always cool to see local high schools in a national publication.

You can see all of this week’s “Go Figure”here.

Good thing for the Jaguars they weren’t mentioned in this article in the current edition of Sports Illustrated.
