Prep Football: Class 4A, 3A Week 10 playoff matchups

The 4A and 3A Week 10 football playoff pairings were released today. Big thanks to Dave Lutes, SPSL football commissioner, for completing these brackets.

When looking at the matchups, keep in mind that where the winning teams will be placed on the state bracket has not yet been released. That information should come soon from the WIAA.

It may sound strange, but the WIAA has nothing to do with the Week 10 playoffs. These games are strictly an agreement from various districts to pool their state playoff berths. The WIAA does not get involved until the first round of the state playoffs when 16 teams remain.

Here are the Week 10 games:

Winners advance to the first round of the state playoffs

GAME 1: SPSL No. 5 (pig-tail winner) at. WesCo No. 1

GAME 2: KingCo No. 4 at WesCo No. 2

GAME 3: SPSL South No. 3 at WesCo No. 3

GAME 4: Narrows No. 4 at KingCo No. 1

GAME 5: GSHL No. 2 at KingCo No. 2

Fans at the Northwest Christian (Lacey)-North Beach game in Ocean Shores saw two streakers race across the field at halftime. The two males were later arrested.

There’s a big showdown on Friday in the Greater Spokane League when Ferris (4-0) meets Central Valley (3-1).

Camas, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, was impressive in its 28-12 win over Skyview, formerly ranked in Class 4A, last week.

Jake McKinney ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns in sixth-ranked Richland’s 31-21 win against a good Davis team.

The SPSL North and South will send nine teams to the Week 10 football state play-in round.

The fifth-place teams in the North and South will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 2, to determine the final playoff-bound team. The South team will host the game this season and it will move to the North next year.
