  1. SnohomishCounty says:

Uh, Pomeroy and Tekoa-Oakesdale are 1B this year, not 2B. This raises the question — Do you really know anything about the small schools?

  2. The rankings are done by the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association.

The News Tribune has no input on these rankings.

  3. SnohomishCounty says:

Ah, sorry Doug. You’re right, of course. Even scarier….the coaches don’t have a clue and are probably just putting down teams they’ve seen go to state in the past! Why have a poll of people who don’t know what’s going on? Should either not do one or find coaches who have a clue.

  4. diggintee says:

There were many changes in classifications this year.. my apologies for “not having a clue” on 2 teams from the eastside that have moved from 2B to 1B… Rest assured it will be corrected for next weeks rankings. Many coaches contribute to the top 10…We try to cover all classifications with minimal input and with WIAA removing the standing page from thier website it does make my job a little tougher…
But I will continue to send the rankings out weekly and God willing..we might get it right someday…I have asked for input from many…you can lead a horse…
And by the way–I have a clue..I spend 4 hours a week on this…so unless you know what goes on to prepare these, I suggest you find a way to become involved….and then you can be critical… feel free to contact me if you would like to help with the 2B/1B state rankings…tell me where you coach and what league you are in and ill take your input every Sunday and get it posted by Monday for the newspapers across the state….Thanks!

  5. Sorry diggintee, got to agree with Snohomish here. You may work hard on this (and thank you!) but you have some lazy voters. It’s inexcusable that coaches would feel it’s ok to vote when they don’t know a thing about the teams, or even which teams are in which classifications. Warden#4? You can’t be serious. Two teams in the 2B classification which are 1B? Wow. It’s clear they are just voting based on tradition or last year. There’s no way to excuse that. It’s lazy. How about we don’t do a poll unless the coaches voting agree they know something about the other teams in their classification? Otherwise, it’s worse than meaningless….it’s unfair to those teams that have proven themselves on the court, and it sets up the weaker teams.

  6. EastsideVB says:

You have St. John-Endicott and LaCrosse – Washtucna on top of the 1B league. LaCrosse – Washtucna has only won one game in league this year. Tekoa-Oakesdale leads the SE1B League.
