Seferian-Jenkins sets date to make college decision

I just spoke with Gig Harbor football coach Darren McKay and he said that Austin Seferian-Jenkins has set a date to make a decision regarding his recruitment.

The nation’s top-rated tight end will make his announcement at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club. Seferian-Jenkins is expected to choose from Cal, Florida, LSU, Texas, USC, UCLA and Washington.

“We wanted to do it in the Harbor, so all his football teammates, basketball teammates, former coaches and anyone else in the community can come,” McKay said. “We’re going to get him in a suit and do it right.”

Seferian-Jenkins and his mother, Linda, are going to visit the University of Texas this weekend. That is the final school Seferian-Jenkins will visit before making his decision.

You can read more about Seferian-Jenkins and the path he’s taking to selecting a school in this story I wrote a couple weeks ago.

McKay said the public is welcome to attend. I wonder how much purple and gold Seferian-Jenkins will see outside and inside the Yacht Club on Aug. 16?
