Federal Way High School is the newest member of the SPSL South.
The West Central District has denied the Eagles’ appeal to overturn the decision of the SPSL principal’s association that moved Federal Way from the league’s North Division.
Jerry Holsten, president of the WCD and principal at South Kitsap, said the district heard Federal Way’s appeal on March 15 and made its ruling on Friday. He said the principals followed appropriate guidelines when the association voted to place Federal Way in the SPSL South.
“We reviewed the SPSL handbook to see who had the authority and responsibility to make this decision and did they follow the proper process?” he said. “It is not the West Central District’s intent to start aligning leagues.”
The SPSL’s realignment was forced when Mount Rainier High School was admitted and placed in the SPSL North and Decatur left the SPSL South for the SPSL 3A.
