Washington wins big at Border Clash

Washington walloped Oregon in the Nike Border Clash cross country race last weekened Beaverton, Ore.

Washington boys claimed the top 10 places, led by Central Kitsap’s Shane Moskowitz, who completed the 4,400-meter course in 14 minutes, 6.29 seconds. Gig Harbor’s Conner Peloquin was third in 14:19.86.

The Evergreen State was just as dominant in the girls race, with Washington runners occupying 15 of the first 16 finishers. Amy-Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak High School edged Oregon’s Annamarie Maag by 1.13 seconds for first place. Neale won the race in 16:37.10.

Early breakdown of football semifinals

Here’s a quick peek at the semifinal football games scheduled for the Tacoma Dome. We’ll have much more on these games later this week, but wanted to get the ball rolling.

CLASS 4A
No. 2 Skyline (10-2) vs. No. 1 Bothell (12-0)

Here’s the matchup everyone – or at least the folks in Sammamish and Bothell – wants to see. Bothell upended Skyline 25-20 four weeks ago, but the Spartans have rolled since then, outscoring their three opponents 154-28…in the playoffs. In the last two weeks, I’ve seen the Spartans thump two very good previously undefeated football teams in Narrows League champion South Kitsap and SPSL South champion Curtis.
