Week 9: Class 2A Postseason Projections

Here’s the updated Class 2A postseason projections. Unlike some leagues in 4A and 3A, there are no playoff-qualifying crossover games in Week 9 for any 2A leagues or districts.

District 1
Four state berths
Tuesday, Nov. 3
NWC No. 5 Mount Baker at CC No. 4 Granite Falls
Friday, Nov. 6
NWC No. 4 Squalicum at CC No. 1 Archbishop Murphy
NWC No. 3 Blaine at CC No. 2 Cedarcrest
CC No. 3 South Whidbey at NWC No. 2 Burlington-Edison
Saturday, Nov. 7
Winner of CC No. 4/NWC No. 5 at NWC No. 1 Lynden

 

Winning teams will be seeded in this order:
CC No. 1
NWC No. 1
NWC No. 2
CC No. 2
CC No. 3
NWC No. 3
NWC No. 4
CC No. 4/NWC No. 5

District 4
Four state berths
Evergreen No. 4 River Ridge at GSHL No. 1 Mark Morris
Evergreen No. 3 Tumwater at GSHL No. 2 R.A. Long
GSHL No. 3 Woodland at Evergreen No. 2 Black Hills
GSHL No. 4 Washougal at Evergreen No. 1 W.F. West

If teams of the same seed win, the EvCo team will receive the higher seed into the state playoffs. For instance, if EvCo No. 1 W.F. West and GSHL No. 1 Mark Morris both win, W.F. West will receive the district’s No. 1 seed and Mark Morris the No. 2 seed.

District 2/3
Two state berths
The Nisqually Olympic League champion (Sequim is projected) is the District 3 No. 1 seed.
Tuesday, Nov. 11
Interlake at Nisqually Olympic No. 2 North Mason, winner is the District 3 No. 2 seed

CWAC (District 5/6)
Three state berths
The CWAC has no crossover playoff games. The teams are seeded into the state playoffs based on league standings.
Projected qualifiers
1. Ellensburg
2. Othello
3. Selah

Great Northern (District 7)
Three state berths
The Great Northern has no crossover playoff games. The teams are seeded into the state playoffs based on league standings.
Projected qualifiers
1. Spokane West Valley
2. Cheney
3. Deer Park

Here’s a link to the WIAA Class 2A state playoff bracket. Below you will find out projected first-round matchups. We’ve provided enough information so that if you don’t agree with our predictions and want to see how the playoff bracket might look with different league finishes or crossover winners, you should be able to do that fairly easily.

Game 1: District 2/3 No. 2 Interlake at District 4 No. 2 Mark Morris

Game 2: District 7 No. 2 Cheney at District 5/6 No. 1 Ellensburg

Game 3: District 7 No. 3 Deer Park at District 5/6 No. 2 Othello
