It didn’t take long for the postseason excitement to begin. A three-way tie for first in the Metro League Sound Division has forced a mini-playoff that will be played on Monday. The Metro League is the only 3A league or district to play playoff crossover games in Week 9.

Below, you will find a league-by-league look at the playoff scenarios for South Sound leagues, along with Week 9 crossover contests for Metro and predicted matchups for Week 10, which will reveal what the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs might look like.

We’ve provided enough information so that if you don’t agree with our predictions and want to see how the playoff bracket might look with different league finishes, you should be able to do that fairly easily.

SOUTH SOUND SCENARIOS

SPSL 3A
Playoff berths:
Four
Predicted league finish: Lakes, Peninsula, Enumclaw, Bonney Lake
Lowdown: Lakes has locked up the No. 1 seed and Peninsula is No. 2. If Enumclaw beats White River, Enumclaw is No. 3 and Bonney Lake is No. 4. If White River wins, that creates a three-way tie for third among Bonney Lake, Enumclaw and White River. In that case, the tie is broken by point differential and Bonney Lake gets the No. 3 seed and White River the No. 4 seed.

OLYMPIC WESTERN
Playoff berths:
Four
Predicted league finish: Timberline, Capital, North Thurston, Olympic
Lowdown: Timberline can clinch the No. 1 seed with a win over North Thurston this week. If that happens and Capital beats Yelm, the league seedings will be: Timberline, Capital, North Thurston and Olympic.
