What to watch today

Spokane is the epicenter of Washington volleyball this weekend as 64 teams will converge on four sites in the city for the highly-competitive 2009 Crossover Classic. Among those competing South Sound squads Graham-Kapowsin, Tahoma and Auburn Riverside.

Thursday’s highlights

Third-ranked Olympia escaped Bellarmine Prep with a 3-2 victory. Lisa Chulich, Lauren Herseth and Jennifer Liedes all tallied double-digit kills for the Bears. Victoria Fisher’s 14 kills and 14 digs led the Lions.

Alli Hills smashed 16 kills and Ashley Reisen chipped in seven in Bonney Lake’s 3-0 win over Lakes.

Sidney Erickson led Sumner with 15 kills as the Spartans swept Franklin Pierce, 3-0.

Janell Baure, Desirea Taylor and Brittany Simmons scored goals in Spanaway Lake’s 3-0 win at Bethel. Fallon Stanley recorded the shutout.

Curtis erupted for six first-half goals on its way to a 7-1 win at Graham-Kapowsin. Shayli Housman scored two goals for the Vikings.

Enumclaw’s Claire Meeks scored twice in the Hornets’ 4-1 win against Sumner.

Acacia Johnson scored four goals and Dani Rae Edwards added two in Orting’s 8-1 victory at Life Christian.

Decatur’s Amanda Beyke shot a 1-over par 37 at Twin Lakes, helping the Gators defeat Beamer 91-9.

Bethel’s Jon Skau earned medalist honors after shooting a 3-over par 39 at Lake Spanaway, leading the Braves over Spanaway Lake, 83-54.
