Week 9 prep football picks

The playoff picture is coming into focus. The Narrows League finalized its postseason berths last night and victories by Bethel and Enumclaw on Thursday made determined some seeding in the SPSL South and SPSL 3A.

Plenty more to be determined tonight. Kentwood and Kentlake are playing for a trip to the postseason. Bonney Lake is in with a win over Sumner. Tumwater can cap an undefeated regular season with a win over Centralia. Or the Tigers can force a three-way tie for first in the Evergree Conference if they top the Thunderbirds and Black Hills beats W.F. West. On Saturday, Nisqually 1A co-leaders Orting and Cascade Christian go head-to-head on Saturday with the league title on the line.

Check back late tonight. We’ll have the playoff seeds and matchups posted here.

With that housekeeping out of the way, let me tell you about an interesting matchup in tonight’s Auburn-Auburn Riverside game. Brennett Rodseth, a two-way starter for the Ravens, is the son of Trojans assistant coach Kent Rodseth. Barb Rodseth, Brennett’s mom and Kent’s wife, says her son is “part of the Auburn family” and expects tonight’s game to be especially emotional. I saw Brennett mingling with the Auburn players and coaches after last week’s win over Tahoma, so there’s obviously some connections.

Wonder what team mom is cheering for?

This week’s guest picker is Bellarmine Prep QB/DB Luke Schindele. He scored three touchdowns last night, helping lead the Lions to a 21-12 win over Mount Tahoma and clinch a playoff berth.
