It’s been a couple weeks since I posted some prep sports links from around the state. It’s high time I get back in that groove, so here we go.

In the last couple days, we have had our girls soccer and cross country previews run. Our girls swimming preview will be in Thursday’s newspaper.

Let’s go next to Spokane. Spokesman-Review sports writer Mike Vlahovich takes a look back at the victories by Central Valley and Ferris football teams here. Here’s a mention of the DeSales football team, which began the season ranked No. 1 in our Class 2B poll, but has since fallen out.

The Olympian reported that Black Hills running back Cody Peterson was initially shorted by 100 yards by the team’s stat keeper. Peterson actually ran for 309 yards on 33 carries in the win over Hoquiam on Friday.

Finally, click below to see The Associated Press high school football polls.

Here are the AP polls, with a brief summary on how they compare to the TNT’s rankings in each class.

Class 4A

Team, Record, Points

1, Skyline (7) 3-0 70

2, Ferris 3-0 66

3, Issaquah 3-0 46

4, Auburn 3-0 44

5, Olympia 3-0 42

6, Woodinville 3-0 35

7, Central Valley 3-0 25

8, Southridge 3-0 24

9, Lewis and Clark 2-1 22

10, Kamiakin 3-0 12

Others receiving 6 or more points: Skyview 10, Pasco 10, Lake Stevens 9, Puyallup 8.

These rankings are nearly the same as the TNT’s. We have the same top seven teams, with the only difference being we have Olympia at No. 4 and Auburn at No. 5. Southridge is not in our rankings. Instead, we have Graham-Kapowsin at No. 9. I’m puzzled that some writers voted for Puyallup over G-K, given that the Eagles beat the Vikings on Saturday.

Class 3A

Team, Record, Points

1, Bellevue (9) 3-0 90

T2, Ferndale 3-0 71

T2, Lakes 3-0 71

4, Union 3-0 57

5, West Seattle 3-0 54

6, Kennedy 2-1 40

7, O’Dea 2-1 36

8, Eastside Catholic 2-1 26

9, Meadowdale 1-1 15

10, Mt. Spokane 2-1 14

Our top four teams are ranked the same. The TNT poll differs by placing Kennedy at No. 5 and West Seattle at No. 6. We also include Eastside Catholic, Mount Spokane and O’Dea in our rankings. I expect we’ll see a fair amount of shuffling after the the top three teams throughout the rest of the regular season.

Class 2A

Team, Record, Points

1, Prosser (8) 3-0 89

2, Archbishop Murphy (1) 3-0 78

3, Burlington-Edison 3-0 62

4, Tumwater 3-0 58

5, Pullman 2-1 51

6, Lynden 2-1 38

7, West Valley (Spokane) 2-1 33

8, Othello 2-1 27

9, Steilacoom 3-0 15

10, Selah 3-0 11

Others receiving 6 or more points: 11, Mark Morris 9. 12, North Mason 7.

The first two teams are the same, then things get tricky. The TNT poll then goes Tumwater, Lynden, Burlington-Edison, West Valley (Spokane) and Steilacoom. Burlington-Edison is a solid team and I could find points to argue for the Tigers being the No. 3 team in 2A.

Class 1A

Team, Record, Points

1, Royal (7) 3-0 79

2, Cashmere (1) 2-0 66

3, Montesano 3-0 47

4, Forks 3-0 41

5, Orting 3-0 39

T6, Kalama 3-0 36

T6, Cascade Christian 2-1 36

8, Connell 1-2 16

9, Cascade (Leavenworth) 2-0 14

10, Chelan 2-0 12

Others receiving 6 or more points: 11, King’s 9. 11, Wahluke 9. 11, Zillah 9.

The polls are awfully similar. We have the same teams in the top seven, with the only differences being the swapping of Forks and Montesano and Kalama and Cascade Christian.

Class 2B

Team, Record, Points

1, LaSalle (2) 3-0 52

2, Life Christian Academy (3) 3-0 44

3, Asotin 2-1 38

4, Adna (1) 3-0 34

5, Willapa Valley 3-0 29

6, Colfax 2-0 28

7, Concrete 2-1 15

T8, DeSales 1-2 13

T8, White Swan 3-0 13

10, Kittitas 2-0 12

Others receiving 6 or more points: 11, Garfield-Palouse 11. 11, Wahkiakum 11. 13, Toutle Lake 9. 13, Pe Ell 9.

The TNT poll only goes five deep, but we have the same top five teams. The only difference is that we have Adna third and Asotin fourth.

Class 1B

Team, Record, Points

1, Cusick (2) 3-0 59

2, Tri-Cities Prep (4) 3-0 58

3, Touchet 3-0 50

4, Almira Coulee-Hartline (1) 3-0 42

5, LaCrosse-Washtucna 3-0 25

Others receiving 6 or more points: 11, Lake Quinault 20. 11, Lummi 20.

This is the only poll where we differ on our No. 1 ranking. The TNT has Tri-Cities Prep in the top spot and follows with Touchet, Almira/Coulee-Hartline, Cusick and Lummi.
