Records set at 2A, 1A state track meet

We’re only a couple hours into the Class 1A and 2A state track and field meet finals, a handful of records have fallen.


Here’s what we’ve got:


Boys

Class 1A


Cedar Park Christian’s Zack Keene smashed the 100-meter dash mark, clocking a time of 10.77 seconds. Bellevue Christian’s Matt Isbell had the previous record of 10.88.


Girls

Class 1A
The Chewelah 800-meter relay team ran a 1:45.28, breaking a 25-year-old mark of 1:45.30 set by Blaine.


Class 2A

The South Whidbey and Burlington-Edison 800-meter relay teams each broke the mark of 1:44.46 set

Softball title games set

Both 4A and 3A fastpitch could have repeat champions as Shadle Park advanced to the 4A title game and Kennedy reached the 3A finals.


Shadle Park, which beat Redmond 6-0 today in the semifinals, will play Eastlake. The Wolves topped Rogers of Puyallup 4-0 in their semifinal.


Kennedy edged Everett 5-2 and will meet undefeated Timberline, which beat Bonney Lake 6-2.


Class 4A

Title game: Shadle Park vs. Eastlake, 2:30 p.m.


Class 3A

Kennedy vs. Timberline, 3:30 p.m.

Bellarmine distance runner DQ’d; still receives first-place medal

Reporter Todd Milles filed this story minutes ago from Pasco. Bellarmine Prep distance runner Nicole Cochrane was disqualified ten minutes after the 3,200 meters ended — a race she won and ran a personal-best 10 minutes, 32 seconds — for taking three steps inside the line on the first lap.

Bellarmine Prep, Puyallup to play for 4A soccer title; other results

Playoff-mainstay Bellarmine Prep will take on tournament-newbie Puyallup in the Class 4A boys soccer title game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood.


Here’s a rundown on the semifinals:


CLASS 4A



Bellarmine Prep 3, Eastlake 2:
The Lions withstood a challenge from Eastlake, beating the Wolves 3-2 in a shootout. Bellarmine Prep outshot Eastlake 3-1 in the shootout.


Sophomore Scott Hanson converted the final kick, going to the left and out of reach for Eastlake goalkeeper Robbie Marsh.

Olympia baseball loses 3-2

Olympia’s quest for a state championship is over. Snohomish scored three unearned runs in the first inninng and that was all the Panthers’ needed, beating the Bears 3-2 in the Class 4A semifinals at Safeco Field in Seattle.


Olympia will play Richland at 1 p.m. in the consolation game, while Snohomish will meet Kentlake at 7 p.m. in the title game.

Kentlake baseball team advances to the state title

TNT freelancer Tyler Hemstreet provides us with this update from Safeco Field:


Lewis Larson’s RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Kentlake a 5-4 win over Richland in the Class 4A semifinals, launching the Falcons into the Class 4A state title game for the first time.


Kentlake will play the winner of the Olympia-Snohomish game at 7 p.m. Saturday.
