Video shows Cochrane didn’t commit violation

Video has surfaced that shows Bellarmine Prep distance runner Nicole Cochrane should not have been disqualified.

The video of the Class 4A girls 3,200-meter race at last week’s Star Track track and field meet in Pasco shows that it was Cochrane’s teammate who ran inside the lane line. But an official ruled it was Cochrane and the Harvard-bound runner was disqualified 10 minutes after winning the race.

Here is the link to Flotrack.com’s video.

It is unlikely that the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association will officially award Cochrane first place. The use of video is prohibited when

Gaddy withdraws commitment to Arizona

If Abdul Gaddy and Avery Bradley get their way, the Bellarmine Prep pair will be basketball teammates after they graduate from high school.

Gaddy sent college basketball coaches scurrying to revive recruiting pitches when on Thursday The News Tribune’s All-Area Player of the Year withdrew his oral commitment to attend the University of Arizona. Gaddy, who is rated as the No. 2 point guard in the nation by Scout.com, and Bradley, a fellow junior and ranked as the No. 9 shooting guard, say they want to be a package deal.

Cascade Christian hurdler wins two events

Cascade Christian sophomore Spencer Ramos added a 1A boys 300-meter hurdles title to the 110-meter hurdles crown he won earlier today.

Ramos took the lead for good at the second-to-last hurdle when he passed King’s Austin Dean.

Ramos turned out for the track team after being persuaded by coach Josh Hoff and he began doing the hurdles about a few weeks into the season. Less than two months later, he’s a double-winner at the state meet.
