Girls hoops updates: Southridge (Ore.), Auburn Riverside win again

Auburn Riverside pulled out a 48-40 victory against Kennedy. It wasn’t pretty, but the Ravens won their second straight title. There’s a story in Sunday’s paper, but the game ran a little late, so look for another story in Monday’s TNT.

As for Oregon, this comes from the AP (I listened to part of the game on the radio before the Riverside game started)….Puyallup native Michael Meek’s Southridge girls won their fourth straight Oregon title.

Did I mention Kate Starbird was here?

This was submitted for tomorrow’s notebook but might end up getting cut for space, so I thought I’d throw it on the blog as well.

Starbird catches Lakes’ win

Former Lakes star Kate Starbird was in attendance Saturday at Hec Ed to take in Lakes’ win against Kamiakin for the fourth-place trophy.

Starbird, a 1993 graduate who went on to star at Stanford for four years, recently moved to Boulder, Colo., to begin a PhD program studying technology, society and education at the University of Colorado. When she heard the Lancers were playing in Seattle at the

3a girls: Lakes takes fourth

It’s 62-38 Lakes after three and, to be honest, I’ve stopped tracking the points (that’s what post-game stat sheets are for!). Lakes went on a 21-1 run over a little more than four minutes to pretty much run the game out of reach.

Lakes will take the fourth-place trophy with the win, ending its season at 24-2, losing to only Kennedy and Auburn Riverside, the two teams playing for the title tonight.

edit

Lakes grad Kate Starbird made a guest appearance at the game, watching her alma mater take home the fourth place trophy.
