Amojo commits to Washington State
Chalk up another Pacific-10 Conference player for the Auburn Riverside girls basketball program.
Ireti Amojo, the German exchange student who played for the Ravens’ 2007 3A championship team, took an unofficial visit to Pullman over the weekend and decided to leave a Cougar, giving Washington State coach June Daugherty a verbal commitment.
"It’s just the perfect fit for Ireti," Auburn Riverside coach Adam Barrett said. "The only people over here Ireti knows are with Riverside and the Grad family, and there are a lot of Riverside kids at WSU."
Amojo, who lived with 2008 Cougar signee Katie Grad during her exchange year, is the first player to commit for Daugherty’s 2009 recruiting class. She has one year of school remaining in Germany.
Julie Futch, a 2006 graduate, is a sophomore on the Oregon State squad, while 2007 3A state tournament MVP Stephanie Wilber is a freshman with Arizona State’s program.
